About Leumi
Leumi is Israel's most veteran banking corporation and one of the largest corporations in the Middle East. The bank was founded in London in 1902 as a result of the vision of Dr. Theodor Herzl, who saw a need for the establishment of a financial arm t0o support the operations of the Zionist movement in Israel. The bank's first branch opened in Jaffa in 1903.
Upon the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Bank Leumi served as the Central Bank for the new state and issued the country’s first banknotes. Since then, Leumi has been instrumental to the development of the State of Israel, playing a vital role in a range of sectors - from national infrastructure, agriculture, industry and real estate, to commerce, academia, research and hi-tech.
Today Bank Leumi is Israel's leading bank, providing a wide range of banking and financial services to all customer segments, from households, through small and middle-market businesses, and up to large corporations. These services are provided through designated business lines and are backed up by the highest standards and uncompromised professionalism.
Business Lines
Retail Banking Division
The Retail Banking Division provides full banking services to households and small businesses through some 200 branches, service centers and investment advisory centers located across the country. The Division is also responsible for the digital bank 'Pepper', which offers a commission-free current account, with no branches.
Mortgage Division
The Mortgage Division manages Bank Leumi’s mortgage operations, through dozens of ‘Leumi Mortgage’ representative offices located across the country. Leumi was the first bank in Israel to launch the revolutionary 'Digital Mortgage' service, which allows customers to take out a mortgage loan through digital channels only, without the need to visit a bank branch, including Zoom meetings with a mortgage banker and signing documents online.
Corporate Division
The Corporate Banking Division is comprised of four departments:
- The Commercial Department - provides financial services to middle-market companies through designated business centers across the country.
- The Corporate Department - provides financial services to large businesses and multinational corporations.
- The Construction & Real Estate Department – provides financial services to large construction and contracting companies.
- The National Infrastructure Department – specializes in financing large-scale national infrastructure projects.
- LeumiTech - provides comprehensive financial services to high-tech companies operating in Israel and abroad, while addressing the unique needs of the tech industry.
Capital Markets Division
The Capital Markets Division manages Bank Leumi's nostro portfolio and provides capital market services to customers, including institutional customers, through the Bank's trading rooms (Israeli Securities, Foreign Securities, Forex and Derivatives).
